Karsen Barnett -

Associate Pastor

Karsen grew up in the church, and after moving to Anderson in 2011, he and his family began attending Capstone. He has been part of the kids, youth, and now college programs. He started college at UofSC studying computer engineering, but after feeling a call to ministry, he changed majors and schools; instead completing a Christian Studies degree at Anderson University. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity at Clamp Divinity School, at Anderson University. He completed an internship with Capstone in the Spring of 2022, worked that summer at Look Up Lodge serving on Summer Staff, and then jumped into the youth program at Capstone that fall so he could continue serving in student ministry which he realized he had a passion for after his time at camp. Having grown up at Capstone, he takes great joy in teaching students from middle school to college helping them grow in their faith as he has during his time at Capstone.

Linda Fereira - Social Media, Office Assistant, Outreach Coordinator

Linda has been part of the Capstone Church family since moving from Minnesota to the South in 2013. A true northern girl at heart—still hoping for cold weather and the occasional snowfall—she has gradually found her home in the land of sweet tea. Much of that connection comes through her work at Capstone.

From helping plan events and managing the church’s social media presence to coordinating community outreach and mission trips to Cuba, Linda plays a key role in keeping ministry running smoothly behind the scenes. Alongside her service at Capstone, she is also actively involved with Missions Everywhere, supporting outreaches to Cuba and other communities around the world.

Married to her husband, Jim, who works at Anderson University, Linda treasures time spent laughing and making memories with their adult children: Kristin, a graphic designer; Kailyn, a PICU nurse; and Colton, who serves in the Air Force.

Maggie Smith - Worship Director

Maggie has been involved in worship ministry for many years, with her love for music beginning at an early age. She first started singing in church alongside her father, who also serves in ministry, and continued developing her musical gifts through her church choir, youth group, and high school chapel band. This lifelong passion for worship and music ultimately led her to pursue a degree in music in college.

After moving to the area to attend Anderson University, Maggie became an active part of Capstone’s worship ministry. She graduated in 2023 with a degree in Music Education and now serves as an elementary school music teacher. With a heart for serving and teaching, Maggie is grateful for the opportunity to combine those passions as she leads and worships with the Capstone family.

Outside of ministry, Maggie enjoys teaching, coaching soccer, traveling, and cheering on her favorite team, the North Carolina Tar Heels.
