David Barfield - Senior Pastor
David and his family have been part of Capstone Church for over 20 years. His passion is people and seeing them walk faithfully with Jesus teaching others how to Love, Serve and Give to God and others. He is a self-described “recrelational missionary,” using recreation opportunities as a platform to share Christ and help make disciples locally and around the world. In addition to the serving the church, David invests in future ministry preparation by mentoring and teaching students and ministry leaders at Anderson University and Camp McCall.
David met Caroline at Clemson University and they have been married for 32 years. They have 2 adult children: Jake is married to Holly and they live in Tennessee where he works as a process engineer and Anna lives in Columbia, has a career as an Interior Designer and works with a local community center’s dance program.
Karsen Barnett - Associate Pastor
Karsen has been with Capstone church from kid’s ministry, through youth, college and now serves on staff. He now works in all of those ministries with all ages of students fostering the next generation. He has a love of students and the growth that happens from elementary through college and desires for all to come to the life-changing knowledge that Christ died on the cross for them.
Karsen and his wife, Kira, both love the church and pour into it however they can. He currently holds a Bachelor of Christian Studies from Anderson University and is working to achieve his Masters of Divinity at Anderson University.
Beyond Capstone, Karsen enjoys time with friends, whether it is game nights, good stories, or hiking a mountain or to a waterfall.
Linda Fereira - Out Reach
Linda Fereira serves at Capstone Church with a heart for outreach and missions. Her role includes coordinating volunteers, organizing the church’s monthly pancake breakfast for the community, and working alongside Missions Everywhere to help coordinate mission trips. Since moving to Anderson with her husband, Jim, in 2013, Linda has enjoyed serving others and helping connect people with opportunities to share God’s love both locally and around the world. Linda and Jim have three adult children: Kristin, who works in marketing in Anderson; Kailyn, a pediatric ICU nurse in Charleston; and their son, Colton, who serves in the United States Air Force.
Selwyn Salter - Worship Director
Selwyn Salter serves as the Worship Director at Capstone Church, where he is passionate about leading Christ-centered worship and helping people encounter God through music. He has been involved in worship ministry for about ten years, previously serving at churches in Irmo and Simpsonville, South Carolina. Selwyn holds a Bachelor of Music in Worship Leadership from Anderson University and is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at Columbia International University. He and his wife, Maddie, were drawn to Capstone’s heart for local outreach and global missions. Outside of ministry, Selwyn enjoys playing music, fishing, camping, hiking, traveling, and cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Maggie Smith - Worship Director
Maggie has been involved in worship ministry for many years. Growing up, Maggie began singing in church with her dad, who is also in ministry, then continued to serve musically through her church choir, youth group, and the chapel band at her high school. Maggie’s passion for music ultimately led her to pursue a degree in music in college.
Maggie has been a part of Capstone’s worship ministry since moving to the area to attend Anderson University. She graduated in 2023 with a degree in Music Education and began working as an elementary school music teacher. Maggie has a passion for serving and teaching others and enjoys getting to use those passions to lead and serve at Capstone.
Outside of serving at Capstone, Maggie enjoys teaching, coaching soccer, traveling, and cheering on her favorite team: the North Carolina Tarheels.
